Vienna: Where Congress Performance Meets Lasting Impact

Vienna continues to strengthen its position as a leading international meeting destination – with results to match. In 2025, the city recorded its most successful year since records began, confirming Vienna as a reliable choice for international organisers looking for scale, quality and consistency.

2025 results: a strong signal for planners
Vienna hosted 7,196 congresses and corporate events in 2025, welcomed 794,812 participants, and generated 2,545,348 bednights (+27% vs. 2024). Meetings also contributed EUR 1.7bn to Austria’s GDP and supported 19,300 year-round jobs. For planners, this is proof of deliverability: Vienna’s infrastructure and supplier ecosystem are tested at scale – reducing risk for complex international congresses while protecting the delegate experience.

Why Vienna works for international congresses
Vienna combines strong fundamentals with a delegate experience that genuinely adds value. The city is easy to reach internationally and, thanks to its compact layout, logistics stay straightforward – from transfers to evening functions. Organisers also benefit from a broad accommodation base, with around 450 hotels offering 42,000+ rooms across categories and budgets, as well as a versatile venue landscape: three conference centers for meetings of up to 29,000 participants and around 250 locations and meeting hotels ranging from historic settings to contemporary architecture. And because Vienna is synonymous with culture, cafés and cuisine, it’s particularly easy to design social programmes that feel distinctive – without adding complexity.

Beyond delivery: Vienna Impact Stories
Vienna’s approach goes one step further: through the Vienna Impact Stories, meetings are viewed as part of a responsible visitor economy where long-term value and sustainable action go hand in hand. Legacy in Vienna means that an event doesn’t simply take place – it leaves something meaningful behind, such as educational initiatives, health-related activities or collaborations with local institutions. In practice, this is enabled through partnership with local stakeholders.

A recent example was the ERA Congress 2025 in Vienna, where legacy extended well beyond the venue. The Kidney School Project and free public kidney screenings helped bring nephrology closer to the local community.
