Meeting Destination Vienna, represented by Vienna Convention Bureau
As one of the world’s leading meeting destinations, Vienna offers a unique blend of imperial elegance, forward-thinking innovation, and sustainable event planning.
On the one hand a diverse metropolis of millions, on the other hand a compact and convenient congress hub: From historical palaces and prestigious museums to bold architectural icons, Vienna’s more than 250 venues are as diverse as its identity. Three state-of-the-art convention centers close to the city center with capacities of up to 29,000 participants complete this exceptional range. Austria’s capital is also home to 450 hotels with more than 42,000 rooms to suit every budget and preference.
Vienna is consistently ranked among the most livable cities in the world – and it shows. From safe, walkable streets and excellent public transport to a vibrant cultural life, the city welcomes event attendees with openness, efficiency, and charm. Add to that its world-famous coffeehouse culture, buzzing food scene, contemporary art, inclusive communities, and lush green spaces – and you have a destination that inspires every step of the way.
As home to one of just four major office sites of the United Nations (UN), other international organisations such as OPEC and OSCE as well as to more than 120 embassies, Vienna is a true hub for global dialogue. Its strong academic and research landscape – including nine public universities and over 200 research institutions – combined with a thriving creative and tech scene, make it a natural choice for knowledge-based meetings and future-focused gatherings.
The latest rankings from the International Congress and Convention Association, ICCA (#1) and the Union of International Associations, UIA (#2) confirm the city’s position as a top meeting destination.
Vienna is conveniently located in the very heart of central Europe, within two to three hours by air from most European capitals. Vienna Airport is only 20 minutes from the city center.
The Vienna Convention Bureau is your neutral, non-profit partner for all meetings and events in Vienna. Whether you are planning an international congress, a corporate gathering, or an incentive experience, our services are designed to make your planning process seamless, cost-effective, and inspiring.
