ICOM Group: Curating the Experience with Precision and Purpose
As the official event organiser, ICOM Group worked closely with the Governorate of Alexandria to design and deliver an evening that blended cultural excellence with pride. From Stage Design, Technical Production, Branding and Production to Audience Management, the entire event was a testament to our capability to curate national moments with international standards.
Walid Menessi, Chief Operating Officer of ICOM Group, reflected on the event’s significance, ‘Organizing an event of this importance at a historical site as Qaitbay Citadel required both visionary planning and seamless synergy with the Governorate. Together, we crafted a cultural narrative that honoured Alexandria’s spirit and reflected Egypt’s national pride. It was more than an event – it was a message to the world about the city’s future-ready identity.’
The evening’s programme, hosted by renowned presenter Ahmed Salem, featured a mesmerising opera performance by the internationally acclaimed soprano Farrah El Dibany, the first Egyptian to perform at the Paris Opera, as well as dynamic musical, theatrical and folkloric showcases by the youth of Alexandria’s cultural institutions.
The programme honoured distinguished Alexandrians across science, arts, sports and literature and included a touching tribute to inspirational individuals from the People of Determination community. Each segment was curated to reflect the spirit of unity, creativity and excellence that defines Alexandria.
A Historic Venue for a Historic Moment
Hosting the celebration at Qaitbay Citadel – a fortress that has stood resilient on Alexandria’s shores since the fifteenth century – was not only symbolic but deeply meaningful. The choice of venue echoed Alexandria’s role as Egypt’s gateway to the world, a city of thought, culture and innovation for over 2,000 years.
ICOM Group’s Commitment to Cultural Legacy
Zeinab Mamdouh, Project Manager – Operations Division, stated, ‘The success of this event was rooted in the meticulous planning that went on behind the scenes. From site visits and crowd flow mapping to technical rehearsals and multi-agency coordination, every minute was engineered with precision. Working alongside the Governorate’s team was a model of collaboration that brought Alexandria’s story to life.’
Events such as Alexandria’s 73rd National Day align perfectly with our mission: to design experiences that elevate identity, inspire connection and celebrate legacy.
We are proud to have contributed to this national celebration and to support the Governorate’s efforts in preserving Alexandria’s cultural heritage while enabling its transformation into a global, future-ready city.
