The 34th International Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES 2026) was successfully held in Athens from 23–26 June 2026 at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre, bringing together the global community of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery.
As Local Event Partner, AFEA Congress played a central role in the organisation and delivery of this major international meeting, ensuring the seamless execution of a highly complex scientific and educational programme in close collaboration with the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the Hellenic Association for Endoscopic Surgery (HAES).
EAES 2026 welcomed a distinguished audience of surgeons, researchers, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders from across the world, reinforcing its position as one of the most important global congresses in the field. The event featured a comprehensive programme designed to advance surgical knowledge and practice, including hands-on courses, advanced masterclasses, scientific symposia, free paper sessions, UEMS practical examinations and lectures delivered by internationally recognised experts and leading academics in endoscopic surgery. The congress transformed Athens into a hub for scientific exchange and medical advancement.
Under the theme ‘From Hippocrates to Modern Surgical Innovation,’ the congress provided a unique platform for scientific exchange, education, and collaboration, highlighting the latest developments in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, artificial intelligence, digital health, surgical education and patient-centred care.
As the birthplace of Hippocrates and the foundations of modern medicine, the city offered delegates a unique opportunity to connect centuries of medical knowledge with today's most advanced technologies.
The successful execution of EAES 2026 further demonstrated Athens’ capacity to host large-scale, high-profile medical congresses, supported by modern conference infrastructure and a legacy deeply rooted in the origins of medicine.
Through meticulous planning, operational coordination, and on-site management, AFEA Congress contributed to delivering a landmark edition of EAES, reinforcing Athens as a leading destination for international scientific meetings and advancing the global dialogue in endoscopic surgery.
